Where Do We Meet and When?

We meet in Cabo Blanco, a quiet residential town in the municipality of Arona, in the south of Tenerife — just 15 minutes from Las Américas and Los Cristianos.

We are fortunate to have the use of a beautiful little Lodge, lovingly created within the home of one of our Masonic brethren here in Tenerife. Although modest in size, it is perfect in its structure and powerful in the membership and work carried out within its walls.

As Freemasons often say:
“The Lodge is made from the brethren — the Lodge room is simply where you meet.”

Our Masonic season runs from October through to April, and we hold our regular Lodge meeting on the 4th Tuesday of every month.

Regular Meetings

The Regular Meeting is our official Lodge meeting. Every brother receives a summons beforehand, much like an order of service, outlining the business and ceremonies for the evening.

This is where tradition truly comes to life. We wear our dark suits, polished shoes, and Masonic regalia — aprons, collars, and jewels that represent our office or position within Freemasonry. During these meetings we perform ritual work and ceremonies entirely from memory, supporting brethren as they progress through their Masonic journey.

These evenings are formal, meaningful, and deeply rooted in centuries of tradition, yet they are also filled with warmth, friendship, and shared purpose.

The Festive Board

Following the Lodge meeting comes the Festive Board — the traditional meal shared together afterwards, and an important part of Masonic life.

This is a chance for brethren to relax together, enjoy good food, take part in traditional toasts, share conversation, and celebrate the evening’s activities in true fellowship. We also hold a small raffle, which is a light-hearted and enjoyable way of raising additional funds for charity.

LOI – Lodge of Instruction

From the first Tuesday in October until the third Tuesday in April, we also hold what is known as a Lodge of Instruction (LOI), at the same time and in the same place as our regular meetings.

Many of the brethren also choose to go for food and drinks afterwards — as we are a rather social bunch.

The LOI is essentially the rehearsal space for our Regular Meetings. Since all ritual work and ceremonial movements are performed from memory — both spoken word and physical movement around the Lodge — practice is essential.

Here at Ave Fénix, we pride ourselves on the quality of our ritual work and the authenticity of our movements and actions. Achieving this takes dedication, repetition, and support from one another.

The LOIs are designed to provide exactly that:
a welcoming environment built on patience, encouragement, learning, and mutual support.

ULOI – Unofficial Lodge of Instruction

From May through to October, during the summer break, some of the brethren continue to meet informally for what we call the ULOI — Unofficial Lodge of Instruction.

These gatherings are particularly valuable for newer brethren in a far more relaxed and informal atmosphere. They provide an opportunity to practise ritual work, build confidence, and prepare for the Masonic season beginning again in October.

ULOIs are especially useful for brethren progressing through the offices of the Lodge — the natural path of progression for many Masons.

Every October, a new Worshipful Master — essentially the Chairman of the Lodge for the year — is installed. Following this installation, the officers beneath him traditionally move up through the various positions as part of their Masonic progression.

The ULOIs give brethren preparing to take on new offices the opportunity to practise their upcoming roles in advance, ensuring they feel confident and prepared rather than stepping into the position “cold”.
